The High School Health Research Forum is fully student-run, with a group of passionate students responsible for overseeing its operations. Meet the board!

  • Mikayla "Miki" Chan

    PRESIDENT (WEST REGION)

    Miki Chan is a student at Polytechnic School in Pasadena, California. She is passionate about culture, media, the biological sciences, and has a curiosity for history. She swims and plays water polo competitively, and enjoys unwinding with a great cup of coffee and quality time with her dog.

  • Juliette Carson

    PRESIDENT (EAST REGION)

    Juliette Carson is a student at the High School for Math, Science, and Engineering in Manhattan, New York City. She is passionate about the intersection of technology and healthcare, particularly the role of AI in advancing medical solutions. Her interest in health began after her diagnosis of ME/CFS, inspiring her to explore innovative ways to improve patient care.

  • Kristen Lee

    CO-VICE PRESIDENT

    Kristen Lee is a student at Chattahoochee High School in Johns Creek, Georgia. She is passionate about medicine and research, with a particular interest in infectious diseases and pathology. As a member of her school’s Science Olympiad team, she enjoys competing in biology events, and she also plays cello in the school orchestra.

  • Poorna Prakash

    CO-VICE PRESIDENT

    Poorna Prakash is a student at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Virginia. She is passionate about biomedical engineering with a focus on cancer, and actively advocates for the expansion of STEM education. In her free time, she loves experimenting with new baking recipes and catching up on her favorite Netflix series.

  • Rebecca Zhao

    DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION

    Rebecca Zhao is a student at North Allegheny Senior High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She is interested in neurological and forensic psychology. Rebecca enjoys painting, reading psychological thrillers, swimming, listening to music, and spending time with friends.

  • Benjamin Oakland-Stubbs

    DIRECTOR OF ENGAGEMENT

    Ben is a student at the High School for Math, Science, and Engineering in Manhattan, New York City. As a driven student and a strong collaborator, he has founded and led his school’s frisbee team, has published work in an economic journal, and has been well-recognized for his Model United Nations achievements in out-of-state conferences. In his free time, he loves to read and go on hikes.

  • Anushka Praveen

    DIRECTOR OF MARKETING/PR

    Anushka Praveen is a student at Foothill High School in Northern California. With a strong interest in public health and sensory neuroscience, she is passionate in research and development to treat neurological disorders, and is aspiring to work in the neuroscientific field. Apart from academics, she loves to read, listen to music, and spend time with friends.

  • Victoria Sander

    CO-DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

    Victoria Sander is a student at Donna Klein Jewish Academy in Boca Raton, Florida. She is passionate about health policy and global health. She has published breast cancer research in Nairobi and currently runs a nonprofit that promotes early detection in Kenya. She has also served as a Page for both the North Carolina House of Representatives and the Florida State Senate. Outside of academics, she enjoys rowing and playing the harp.

  • Feiyang Zhang

    CO-DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION

    Feiyang Zhang is a student at Midwood High School in Brooklyn, New York City. She has a strong interest in immunology, microbiology, and surgical science, with a particular passion for research and advocacy surrounding literacy in underserved communities. Feiyang has contributed to various projects, including the HEART project, which focuses on improving health literacy in developing countries across Africa, and has also participated in lab work on stem cell studies.
